- CHRP, the Common Hardware Reference Platform (also know as PPCP,
- PowerPc Common Platform), is a specification that details hardware and
- firmware specifications necessary to support shrinkwrapped (eg,
- machine-independent binary) OSs from any PPC vendor. In essence, it
- decribes a common ground between HW and SW necessary to make
- off-the-shelf OSs run on multivendor PPC hardware, just as they do now
- on PClones.
-
- The full text of the spec is on Apple's Web page, but I don't have the
- full URL handy.

- I believe its a goal for the high end. On the low-end, there may be
- some trouble being technically PPCP compliant, at least without
- expansion. For example, the spec calls for a minimum of 8MB of
- memory. A low-end Power Amiga would probably ship with 4MB.
